Electricity Bill Calculator (Singapore)
Enter your monthly usage in kWh and this tool estimates your bill at the current regulated tariff, then lets you compare a fixed-price or discount-off-tariff retailer plan against it. The regulated low-tension domestic tariff is 28.59 cents/kWh before GST for Oct–Dec 2026.

Electricity bill calculator
Read this off your latest SP bill (“Total kWh”).
Based on SP Group / EMA. As of Oct–Dec 2026 (as of 2026-10-01). Estimate only. GST is 9% (IRAS). Confirm the current regulated tariff at SP Group and your plan's rate on the retailer's Fact Sheet before deciding.
How it is calculated
The estimate uses one simple formula, applied to whichever rate you pick:
- Monthly cost (before GST) = usage in kWh × rate in cents per kWh ÷ 100.
- With GST = that amount × 1.09, because the current GST rate is 9% (IRAS).
The rate depends on the plan type:
- Regulated tariff uses the current low-tension domestic rate — 28.59 cents/kWh before GST for 1 Oct–31 Dec 2026 (SP Group). This figure is refreshed at build time from the SINGSTAT tariff dataset on data.gov.sg (source: SP Group) when a newer quarter is published.
- Fixed price uses the cents/kWh rate you type in from the retailer’s Fact Sheet.
- Discount off tariff (DOT) takes the regulated tariff and applies your discount: rate = tariff × (1 − discount%).
The tool then shows your plan’s monthly cost, the regulated-tariff cost for the same usage, and the difference per month and per year.
A worked example
Illustrative only — not a quote. Figures use the current tariff to show the method.
A household uses 400 kWh a month.
- On the regulated tariff: 400 × 28.59 ÷ 100 = $114.36 before GST, × 1.09 = $124.65/month.
- On a 20% discount-off-tariff plan: the rate is 28.59 × 0.80 = 22.87 cents/kWh. 400 × 22.87 ÷ 100 = $91.49 before GST, × 1.09 = $99.72/month — about $24.93 less a month, or roughly $299 a year, at this tariff level.
If the tariff fell next quarter, that dollar saving would shrink; if it rose, the saving would grow. That is the nature of a discount-off-tariff plan — see fixed vs discount-off-tariff plans.
Limits of this estimate
- It covers energy charges only. Your actual bill may include a service fee, meter charges, water or gas, and other line items.
- It uses a single rate for the whole month; it does not model time-of-use or wholesale (half-hourly) pricing.
- The tariff changes every quarter, so a saving shown today is not guaranteed for a whole contract.
- It does not include deposits, sign-up credits or early-termination fees — check the plan’s Fact Sheet for those.
