SIM-Only Plan Picker (Bring Your Own Plans)

Short answer

Enter the SIM-only plans you are considering — price, included data, and any promo — and this tool ranks them on effective monthly cost over 12 or 24 months, flagging any that fall short of the data you need. You supply the current prices; we do the maths.

On this page (4 sections)

Put the SIM-only plans you are choosing between side by side and rank them on what they actually cost over the period you keep a plan — not the headline promo.

You enter the plans — we rank them. Prices change weekly, so copy the current figures from each telco's own page before comparing.

How it is calculated

For each plan you enter, the tool works out the total cost over your chosen period and divides it by the number of months to get an effective monthly cost:

  • Total = promo price × promo months + normal price × remaining months.
  • Effective monthly = total ÷ months.

Plans are ranked cheapest-total first. If you enter a monthly data need, any plan whose included data is below it is flagged — a cheap plan that does not cover your usage is a false economy. Coverage, speed, roaming and perks are not scored, because only you can judge how much they are worth; number portability and consumer rules are set by IMDA.

A worked example

Illustrative only — not current prices. It shows how the ranking works.

  • Plan A: a steady $12/month, 30GB. Over 12 months that is $144, or $12/month.
  • Plan B: $8/month for the first 6 months, then $18/month, 100GB. Over 12 months that is (8 × 6) + (18 × 6) = $156, or $13/month.

For a 15GB user, Plan A wins over a year even though Plan B’s intro price and headline data look bigger — the promo fades and the extra data goes unused. Over 24 months the gap widens further. This is the method behind how to compare SIM-only plans.

Limits of this estimate

  • It ranks only the plans you type in, using the prices you type in — it does not fetch live prices or know every plan on the market.
  • It compares cost, not network quality, indoor coverage, customer service or bundled perks — weigh those yourself.
  • It assumes you stay on each plan for the full period; if you would switch again sooner, shorten the period.
  • Always confirm the current price, data and contract terms on the provider’s own page before signing up.
