How We Track Plan Prices at SG Plan Picker
We take mobile and broadband prices from each provider's own official page, and electricity figures from SP Group and the SINGSTAT tariff dataset on data.gov.sg. Every figure carries the date we checked it. Because promotions change often, we date everything, tell you to confirm before signing up, and never claim a guaranteed cheapest plan.
Comparison sites are only as trustworthy as their sources and how honestly they handle prices that change. Here is exactly how SG Plan Picker tracks and dates the figures you see, so you can judge our work.
Where our figures come from
| Category | Source | What we take |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile plans | Each provider’s own official page | Price, data, contract, inclusions |
| Broadband plans | Each provider’s own official page | Price, speed, gifts, contract |
| Electricity (regulated tariff) | SP Group; SINGSTAT dataset on data.gov.sg | Quarterly regulated tariff |
| Rules (switching, portability, OEM) | IMDA, EMA, Open Electricity Market | Consumer rules and safeguards |

Our sources, in brief.
We do not take prices from aggregators or third-party blogs as our source of truth. A provider’s own page is the authority for that provider’s price; official bodies are the authority for regulated figures and rules.
Everything is dated
Telco and broadband promotions change often — sometimes weekly — and the electricity tariff is revised every quarter. So every figure we publish carries an “as of” date, and we ask you to confirm the current price on the provider’s page before you commit. A price without a date is a price you can’t trust; we don’t publish those.
How we compare
- We compare on effective long-term cost, not the eye-catching intro price, because an intro rate that jumps after a few months is not the price you live with.
- We value any free gift at what you would actually pay for it, not its sticker price, and we state the valuation method and date — rather than quietly making a plan look cheaper.
- We show the fine print — contract length, after-promo rate, early-termination and auto-renewal terms.
- For electricity, we benchmark against the regulated tariff so you can estimate whether a retailer plan saves money for a given usage; for fixed-price plans, future savings are not guaranteed, because the tariff is reviewed every quarter.
What we will not do
- We never invent a price or a figure. If we can’t verify it, we leave it out and tell you where to check.
- We never claim a “guaranteed cheapest” plan — the best plan depends on your usage, and prices move.
- We don’t accept payment to rank a provider higher. If a page carries affiliate links, it says so, and the comparison does not change because of them.
How often we refresh
Comparison pages are reviewed on a regular cadence and whenever a major promotion or the quarterly regulated tariff changes. Explainer guides are reviewed when the underlying rule changes and at least quarterly. The “Updated” date on each page reflects its last change.
Help us stay accurate
Prices slip out of date despite our best efforts. If you spot a stale figure or an ended promotion, tell us via the contact page and we’ll check it against the source and update the page. This is also how our comparison frameworks — like the best SIM-only plans and best broadband plans — stay honest over time.
